It was built about 1785, and is a 1 1/2-story, five-bay, gambrel-roofed, frame structure covered with beaded weatherboards and set on a low, English-bond brick basement. Located on the Pamunkey River, this home was at one time called "Waterville" by the owners. The house was completed in 1794 by James Ruffin.
